A journey of my senses: an insight into my favourite dining experiences around the world
Ciao!
Welcome to my blog. This is where I invite you to share my incredible culinary experiences.
Some of these memorable dining experiences have come from loved ones in Adelaide and some have come from complete strangers around the world.
Intima dining wants you to eat good food (not only cooked by us) we want you to eat well everywhere else too
For many years I have loved documenting my travel adventures by putting pen to paper & capturing epic memories through photography/videography.
I have gained an immense appreciation when reflecting on it all as I get to relive our experiences and remember how a certain meal, flavour, moment, laugh, view, drink, artwork, monument, sunset/sunrise, and conversation made us feel.
Travelling influences us in a lot of ways.
Have you ever returned home after a trip and felt different?
That is because no one comes home after a trip the same.
Whether you go away to relax and unwind, to recharge/ re-energise or to work. We all take something away from travel
No matter where we go we gain a new outlook as we immerse ourselves in new places, new people & cultures.
I remember feeling so free and liberated yet emotional on my first big trip in 2016. I was exploring Europe for 5 weeks and I couldn’t help but think about what my late mother would be posting on my Facebook wall if she were still alive.
I was sure It would have been a beautiful paragraph about how much she was missing me (but maybe enjoying the peace and quiet).
I met a woman at an airport around my mother’s age and she told me something that has stayed with me since... She said
“You know there’s no such thing as strangers, just friends we haven’t met yet.
This quote spoke to my soul.
I immediately entered this in my phone so I could re-read it over and over & remember it forever. I laughed to myself later when I was alone because even though I knew my mum would be saying “silly woman there ARE indeed strangers & my daughter needs to have her wits about her, ESPECIALLY when travelling” haha.
I knew my mother would also love the powerful message this woman was conveying to me & I couldn’t agree with her more.
I had just met over seventy complete strangers on my Sail Croatia & Contiki tour and was in a state of euphoria making new friends from all parts of the world.
It was more evident to me than ever that everyone we meet has a story.
Everyone has gone through something that has changed them. Some may have skills to teach, lessons to learn and others wisdom to share.
We don’t know what anyone is going through in life, so we just need to be kind.
Our world is so diverse, I URGE you to take any opportunity to T R A V E L , Go out of your way to experience different cultures, visit many cities, meet amazing new people & see how they live.
Go to India and taste the butter chicken the way it is supposed to taste.
Ride a Vespa in Tuscany & sip a Chianti Classico
Dip your toes in the turquoise beaches of the Caribbean & taste some fresh lobster
Attend a cooking class in Paris and learn more about French cuisine.
Visit the La Boqueria Markets in Barcelona & taste their produce
The beauty of exploring the world allows you to gain a bigger perspective on life outside of your own.
We will all leave some mark on this world.
How you create that legacy is up to you.
For most of my life I have loved bringing people together through my cooking & the past 18 months I have been able to create a business out of it. Although it has been stressful & terrifying it has been so rewarding & fun, the perfect combination for a new adventure. I can’t wait to see what this next year brings.
With that said I encourage you to take a risk & if you’re really not a risk-taker kind of person please just live your life on your terms, live authentically & be unapologetically YOU!
Share your voice, paint that piece, write that book, start your new business, learn that instrument, become a father, forgive those who have wronged you, give back to the world, quit your job, Get married, book a flight, be THAT rich aunty, set up that foundation, donate to charity, get divorced, write that song, create your art, tell someone you love them.
Feel the fear and do it anyway because babe, the move you are scared to make might just be the game changer.
So on that note grab yourself a glass of vino and let me share with you my travel tales, a journey of my senses around the globe.
I hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I love writing it.
Love Kelly
